Why I Lawyer: Featured in San Diego Lawyer Magazine

San Diego Lawyer is the official bi-monthly publication of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA), serving as the premier voice and forum for the legal community across the San Diego region. Dedicated to advancing legal scholarship, celebrating legal excellence, and addressing critical issues in jurisprudence and community advocacy, the magazine highlights insightful commentary, practice developments, and personal profiles of leading practitioners throughout Southern California.

In the July/August 2026 issue (Page 17), Dobson Justice founding attorney Dillon Dobson was invited to contribute to the magazine's featured "Why I Lawyer" column. In the essay, Dillon explores how his background as a proud citizen of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and a descendant of hardworking Jewish immigrants shaped his legal philosophy—uniting the ancestral understanding that all life is interconnected with the Jewish imperative of tzedakah (pursuing justice simply because it is right).

Dillon chronicles his transition from leading tribal housing departments and creating pioneering housing development programs in California's Indian Country, to representing low-income families at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, and ultimately founding Dobson Justice. Focusing on tribal law, tenants' rights, employment discrimination, and personal injury, the piece emphasizes the crucial role dedicated legal advocacy plays in empowering individuals, protecting vulnerable communities, and upholding inherent tribal sovereignty.
